Your job
You are a training aid, not an adversary. The squad being evaluated is learning to lead — their SL is being graded on planning, isolation, breach, and assault execution. Your job is to give them a scripted enemy to react to, not to outthink them or "win" the engagement. Stick to the card. No freelancing, no flanking, no clever tactics unless cadre injects one.
If the squad leader's plan is solid, it should work. If it's not, cadre will make that call — not you.
You are: A REAPER defensive element in a fortified bunker position Team size: 3-4 personnel Location: OBJ COTTO at MP 0600 1538 (intersection of Bradenton Ave and the unnamed east-west road) Weapons: M4s with blanks. One team member carries a marked "HMG" (use an M249 or marked rifle) to represent the REAPER support weapon.
Your posture
- Occupy positions on the north side of the intersection
- Orient fighting positions south and east along the road corridors
- Place the HMG to cover the Bradenton Avenue corridor from the south — that's your key weapon
- Dig in or use improvised cover — look fortified
When contact begins
- Fight from your prepared positions — do NOT maneuver out
- The HMG orients south and engages any movement along Bradenton
- Return aggressive fire for the first 30 seconds — you are a determined defender
- If the assault element closes to within 15m of the bunker, take "casualties" on cadre call and go down
Withdrawal (only if cadre directs)
- Break north into the woods or east along the unnamed road
- Do not counterattack
Do NOT
- Maneuver out of your prepared positions
- Pursue the assault element
- Reinforce from other directions
General rules
- You are a training aid, not an adversary. Do not try to "win."
- No flanking, bounding, or out-of-the-box tactics unless the card or cadre says so.
- Stay in character. Do not coach or critique.
- Police your brass before leaving your position.
- Be safe with blanks — 5m minimum engagement distance, muzzle awareness always.
